The Galaxy S25 FE is finally here, and there’s good and bad news

Meanwhile in her Galaxy S25 review, my colleague Abrar Al-Heeti found that the phone could take advantage of various AI-related features to take gorgeous and clear nighttime photos. Both phones have a 12-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie photos and video calls, and can shoot 8K footage at 30 frames per second (fps) along with 4K footage at 60fps. Each phone also has a telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom, though the S25 has a 10-megapixel sensor while the S25 FE has an 8-megapixel sensor. Samsung's $650 Galaxy S25 FE offers many of the same features as the $800 Galaxy S25, but with noticeable changes to help the phone reach that lower price. While the Pixel 10's the one to chase when it comes to zoom output, the S25 FE still offers a well-rounded performance that delivers good results no matter the situation.

These both represent notable upgrades over the S24 FE’s 4,500mAh battery and 25W charging. Easily the biggest hardware upgrades are the 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging. The panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, but can only drop down to 60Hz.

That phone recharged from 0% to 69% in 30 minutes, even with a larger battery than the S25. The S25 has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is an edition of the processor specifically tweaked for Samsung phones. But there is a very clear gulf between the phones when it comes to processing power and the image signal processor (ISP), especially in low-light settings. Starting with the similarities, the S25 and S25 FE have a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera on the back.

It also boasts better-sounding speakers and can hold its own in the camera department, too. The S25 FE, on the other hand, is already substantially cheaper in most countries, while offering largely the same user experience. And at night, the trend continues – the S25 FE’s low light videos from the main and telephoto cameras are slightly more contrasty and less noisy.
When it comes to content creation, the Galaxy S25 FE has the same Galaxy AI features that make it incredibly easy to make complex photo edits a breeze. While the hardware performance does suffer a bit, the software experience with the Galaxy S25 FE remains its hallmark. I’m not confident about the Galaxy S25 FE getting me through the rest of my day on just battery power alone. On a typical work day, I find myself having to charge the phone before I leave for home because it’s under 30% capacity. Samsung somehow manages to cram in a larger 4,900 mAh battery this time around, compared to the 4,700 mAh one in the S24 FE. Even when I push its performance by running two apps in split screen mode, I don’t notice any performance issues with them.

Synonyms and antonyms of hate in English

But the phones are close to each other when it comes to our streaming and battery endurance tests. And while this might make the cheaper phone better for when you need to recharge your battery, in day-to-day use results are more comparable. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 have noticeably different battery sizes and charging speeds. The S25 and S25 FE feature similar camera systems on paper, but it's worth noting that there's more than just megapixels when it comes to photo quality.
