Description: I’m a mother of two young girls (ages 2 and 5). I’m trained as a Clinical Psychologist, researcher, and was formerly an academic. Armed with my knowledge in psychology, I thought I had all the arsenal necessary for motherhood. So when my bundles of joy started exerting their wills, I did what all good psychologists would do: I applied all my knowledge to my kids. But it didn’t work! Thinking that I must be missing something, I went back to my books and journals. When those failed, I’m ashamed to admit that I resorted to parenting gurus on social media ads. Of course, those failed miserably… and I was driven to the depths of despair as I struggled to survive each day while mourning the loss of my independence and dreams of a happy family.
It was there that I turned to prayer and the Bible. Not that I didn’t pray or read before, but my prayers were selfish and I read to fulfill the quota of the day. But when I could surrender my self-sufficiency and personal agenda, I started praying Christ-centred and others-focused prayers. I read my Bible with the intention of gleaning divine wisdom for my parenting. And miracles started to happen.
When I found Dr Turansky and Joanne Miller’s material, that accelerated my progress because I didn’t have to start from scratch. Their diligent work of over 30 years draws out the gospel in such relatable and applicable ways to family life that I could not only help my family, but also hundreds of people from across the globe. As a mom, I still struggle; but while I used to struggle in desperate despair, I now struggle with hope. My personal mission is now to share that hope with you!
On a personal note, in October 2018, our family moved from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and currently reside in the greater Vancouver area of B.C., Canada.
